Song took control in the second round, and when Figueiredo shot for a takedown off a calf kick, Song secured a deep guillotine choke and forced the tap with 18 seconds remaining, sealing a dominant finish. The victory delivered Song a statement main event win on home soil in Macau and cemented his position among the elite bantamweights in the UFC.
Resumen del combate
Song Yadong returns to Macau on a home-crowd wave after a narrow decision loss to Sean O'Malley, while Deiveson Figueiredo — the former two-time flyweight champion now at bantamweight — arrives off a loss to Umar Nurmagomedov and desperate to stay relevant in the title picture. Song's high-volume pressure boxing against Figueiredo's explosive counter-striking and veteran submission instincts creates a fight full of stylistic tension at five rounds.
Claves de la victoria
Song Yadong
- Establish a high-volume leg kick and body attack early to erode Figueiredo's explosive countering power.
- Use constant forward pressure and level changes to prevent Figueiredo from resetting and timing clean counters.
- Maintain tight head movement and stay outside single-shot range to neutralize Figueiredo's guillotine choke threat on entries.
Deiveson Figueiredo
- Land sharp, accurate counter right hands in the pocket when Song commits to combination attacks.
- Seek early clinch entries to drag Song into scrambles and attack the guillotine from tight underhook positions.
- Vary pace by mixing explosive flurries with deliberate feint-and-reset cycles to disrupt Song's rhythm.
