The bout began with a brief feeling-out process, but it quickly became apparent that Garnett had made a perfect read on Clarke's timing. As Clarke stepped in heavily to throw a lead left hook to the body, Garnett slipped slightly off the center line and uncorked a lightning-fast, devastating counter right cross that caught Clarke directly on the jaw.
