UFC Fight Night: Della Maddalena vs. Prates Recap: Full Results and Analysis
Dieser Artikel ist derzeit nur auf Englisch verfügbar.
Carlos Prates had no interest in letting the Perth crowd enjoy their homecoming story. The Brazilian stopped former welterweight champion Jack Della Maddalena with leg kicks and elbows in the third round at RAC Arena on Saturday, completing a run that now stretches to three consecutive stoppages and three consecutive Performance of the Night bonuses — KOs of Geoff Neal, Leon Edwards, and now the hometown headliner. Prates dominated round one at range, escalated with knees and elbows in round two as leg kick damage stiffened Della Maddalena's movement, and put the Perth fighter on the canvas multiple times before the stoppage at 3:17 of round three. The welterweight title shot conversation is no longer optional.

Main Event: Prates Stops Della Maddalena in Three
Della Maddalena came back to Perth with a clear mission: rebuild after dropping the welterweight belt to Islam Makhachev at UFC 322 in November 2025. The first round was measured — Della Maddalena managed distance and landed a takedown — but Prates was already integrating leg kicks that would define what came next. Round two accelerated. Knees and elbows in the clinch, right hands landing flush, and Della Maddalena going to the canvas more than once under the pressure before a brief respite. Round three was the same pattern with no reset available. The stoppage came at 3:17.
Three fights. Three stoppages. Three bonuses. Prates has beaten Geoff Neal, Leon Edwards, and the former welterweight champion in consecutive outings without dropping a round of significance. The only logical question is who lines up opposite him next in a number one contender slot. For Della Maddalena at 18-4, the road back involves addressing a specific vulnerability: once the leg kicks took hold of his base, he had no counter for what followed.
Co-Main Event: Salkilld Absorbs, Then Finishes
The co-main delivered one of the night's more compelling stories. Beneil Dariush, the 12th-ranked lightweight and a 23-fight UFC veteran, put Quillan Salkilld on the canvas early in round one. Salkilld absorbed it, found his footing, and finished Dariush with punches at 3:29. A Performance of the Night bonus confirmed what the stoppage had already communicated: Salkilld is the genuine article.
The Perth-born 12-1 prospect is now four for four on UFC finish rate, all stoppages, and has beaten a legitimately ranked contender on home soil. He is the most credible name to emerge from the Australian lightweight scene in years. Dariush, for his part, has now been stopped in three consecutive outings. The chin questions that surfaced in elite company have become a consistent pattern, and a path back to ranking relevance is difficult to chart from where he stands.
City Kickboxing's Night in Perth
The Auckland-based gym sent three fighters to RAC Arena and brought three wins home. Brando Peričić, making only his second UFC appearance, stopped Shamil Gaziev with a right hand in round two. Both men earned Fight of the Night honors for the quality of the exchanges before the finish — an honest acknowledgment of how hard Gaziev pushed before the finish arrived. Peričić is two for two in the UFC, both stoppages, and is ready for a ranked heavyweight opponent.
Louie Sutherland stepped in on eight days' notice when Sharaf withdrew with a fractured nose and proceeded to dominate Tai Tuivasa across three rounds, sweeping all three judges 30-26. For Tuivasa, it is seven consecutive losses inside the UFC. He came to Perth needing a win against a replacement fighter in front of a crowd that would have carried him through the hard moments. The 30-26 scorecards tell the story of what happened instead.
Prelim Highlights
Steve Erceg, the Perth native who went five rounds with Alexandre Pantoja in a title fight, took a 29-28 unanimous decision over Tim Elliott to stay relevant in the flyweight division.
Kody Steele locked an inverted heel hook on Road to UFC champion Dom Mar Fan and finished round one at 3:56. Junior Tafa stopped Kevin Christian with punches and elbows at 2:42 of round one in light heavyweight — both men had entered having lost to Billy Elekana in their previous outings. Wesley Schultz caught returning veteran Brian Johnston with a guillotine choke late in round three of a middleweight prelim.
Marwan Rahiki, the undefeated featherweight prospect out of Lion's Den Academy, stopped replacement opponent Oliver Schmid with punches at 2:47. His original scheduled opponent Jack Jenkins had been pulled before fight night; the result was the same regardless.
