Nick Galanti def. Carlos Petruzzella TKO (punches) · R1 0:35
Fight Overview
A classic striker versus grappler matchup kicks off the night in the middleweight division. Argentina's Carlos Petruzzella (15-1) looks to add to his country's growing UFC footprint with his dynamic striking, while Dante Rivera BJJ product Nick Galanti (7-1) seeks to drag the fight to the mat and submit his way onto the UFC roster.
Keys to Victory
Carlos Petruzzella
- Command the center of the Octagon and use long push kicks (teeps) to keep Galanti firmly on the outside
- Fire damaging intercepting knees and uppercuts the moment Galanti drops his elevation for a takedown
- Constantly circle and use dynamic footwork to avoid getting cornered, stripping Galanti of his primary clinch entries
Nick Galanti
- Methodically cut off the cage, using feints to close the distance and wrap Petruzzella up in tight clinches
- Utilize persistent chain wrestling—flowing from singles to doubles to body locks—to drag Petruzzella to the mat
- Bypass Petruzzella's guard quickly and hunt for back takes or mount to neutralize any threat of strikes from the bottom
