Fight Overview
Preston LaGrange (6-1) steps in to face the undefeated Nell Ariano (6-0) in a light heavyweight replacement bout at DWCS 10 Week 9. Ariano had a previous booking on this card cancelled, making this his second shot at a UFC contract on the same night, while LaGrange brings the only blemish on either resume and the motivation of someone who knows how rare these APEX opportunities are.
Keys to Victory
Preston LaGrange
- Press forward continuously to negate Ariano's length and prevent him from using his reach advantage to pot-shot.
- Target the body early to force Ariano to lower his guard and open up the head for follow-up combinations.
- Avoid getting lured into a single-punch exchange against a longer opponent; win it with volume in the pocket.
Nell Ariano
- Use his 6'4" frame and jab to maintain distance and keep LaGrange uncomfortable on the outside.
- Seek an early finish via a clean combination or submission to send the clearest possible message to Dana White.
- If LaGrange pressures, create space with lateral movement and reset rather than fighting backward against the cage.
