Fight Overview
Croatian MMA royalty and former KSW champion Antun 'Killer' Račić makes his return to the FNC cage, taking on Italian veteran Walter 'The Snatch' Cogliandro. Račić, one of the region's most accomplished lower-weight fighters with over 40 professional bouts, originally prepared for a different opponent but remains focused on proving he still belongs at the pinnacle of European MMA. Cogliandro presents a tricky stylistic challenge as a late replacement and will look to snatch the biggest victory of his career against the highly-ranked veteran.
Keys to Victory
Antun Racic
- Lean heavily on his championship-level wrestling to dictate where the fight takes place, forcing Cogliandro to work defensively off his back
- Use feints to safely close the distance against the Italian, transitioning smoothly from striking to relentless takedown entries
- Push a grueling pace to exhaust Cogliandro in deep waters, leaning on the pacing and experience gained from 43 professional bouts
Mauricio Almeida
- Keep the fight standing at all costs by utilizing lateral movement and an active jab to deny Račić's entries
- Look for intercepting knees or uppercuts as Račić inevitably telegraphs his powerful takedown attempts
- Create scrambles if taken down, prioritizing standing up immediately over trying to play a submission game against a high-level grappler
