Result Summary

Mileide Simplicio def. Josefine Lindgren Knutsson Submission · R3 4:55

Former UFC strawweight Josefine Lindgren Knutsson looked to keep the "Swedish invasion" rolling against Brazilian grappler Mileide Simplicio. For the first two rounds, Knutsson beautifully dictated the terms of the fight, utilizing her elite kickboxing pedigree to keep Simplicio at the end of her strikes. Knutsson successfully defended multiple takedown attempts, piecing the Brazilian up with straight punches and teep kicks. Desperate in the third round, Simplicio relentlessly pursued the takedown. With under a minute left on the clock, Simplicio finally managed to drag Knutsson to the mat. In a lightning-fast transition, she secured Knutsson's back, locked up a body triangle, and sank in a deep rear-naked choke. Knutsson fought the hands bravely but was forced to tap at the 04:55 mark—a dramatic, buzzer-beating submission upset for the Brazilian.
