Zafar Mohsen def. Richie Smullen KO · R1 2:19
Fight Overview
German-Afghan featherweight Zafar Mohsen, ranked fourth in OKTAGON and a multi-finisher across 13 professional wins, meets Irish veteran Richie Smullen — SBG Ireland product, TUF alumni, and former Bellator competitor — who sits one spot below at ranked fifth. Both men carry serious credentials: Mohsen brings explosive KO and submission power in equal measure, while Smullen brings the pedigree of Ireland's elite fight camp and exposure at the highest levels of the sport. A win for either fighter cements their case for a shot at the OKTAGON featherweight title.
Keys to Victory
Zafar Mohsen
- Press forward with explosive combination striking and cut off the cage to land his signature knockout power shots early.
- Threaten submissions whenever the fight hits the mat to force Smullen into defensive grappling rather than offensive scrambles.
- Use physical pressure and cage control to sap Smullen's energy, preventing the Irishman from settling into technical counter-striking.
Richie Smullen
- Use SBG Ireland's disciplined technical framework to establish clean jab range and prevent Mohsen's explosive combinations from landing flush.
- Lean on his Bellator-tested experience in high-pressure moments to remain composed when Mohsen pushes for the finish.
- Attack the body early and methodically to slow Mohsen's aggressive forward movement and open up cleaner head shots later.
