Šimon Bruknar def. Nathan Haywood Decision (unanimous) · R3 5:00
Fight Overview
Czech bantamweight Šimon Bruknar (5-2) takes on British contender Nathan Haywood (4-3) in a bantamweight clash that represents the kind of competitive development fight that defines OKTAGON's undercard quality in Central Europe. Both men are in the roster-proving phase of their careers, and a victory here provides the kind of momentum and credibility that opens doors to more prominent matchups within a promotion built on regional rivalries and rising talent.
Keys to Victory
Šimon Bruknar
- Use home region support and his winning-record edge to establish early control and demonstrate that the quality gap between 5-2 and 4-3 is real.
- Avoid treating this as a routine fight — a 4-3 opponent who has competed at this level carries genuine dangers and a chip on the shoulder.
- Execute his clearest strengths consistently across all rounds rather than chasing an unnecessary finish against a competitive opponent.
Nathan Haywood
- Use underdog status and visitor motivation to push a physical, high-effort pace that tests Bruknar's comfort level and disrupts any home-crowd complacency.
- Neutralize the home-crowd disadvantage by executing a steady, disciplined game plan that doesn't react emotionally to the Brno atmosphere.
- Show OKTAGON that a 4-3 record understates his actual competitive level — a win over a winning-record opponent reframes the narrative around his career.
