Fight Overview

The PFL Africa lightweight tournament produces an all-Nigerian semifinal as Cornel Thompson (12-3) faces Patrick 'Star Boi' Ocheme (9-1) in a matchup that will send one of Nigeria's own to the championship final. Ocheme announced himself with a highlight-reel flying knee finish in the Nigeria first round, while Thompson's decision win showed the consistency of a 12-fight veteran who knows how to grind through adversity.

Keys to Victory

Cornel Thompson

  1. Neutralize Ocheme's explosive striking by clinching early and turning this into a grinding attrition fight over three rounds.
  2. Control the pace with his veteran experience and make Ocheme work for every exchange rather than letting him set rhythm.
  3. Mix takedowns into his game plan to prevent Ocheme from loading up on his power shots.

Patrick Ocheme

  1. Keep the fight upright and use his reactive speed to land the same explosive combinations that finished his first-round opponent.
  2. Create distance and angle to avoid Thompson's clinch — the flying knee only works if there's space to load it.
  3. Attack early to prevent Thompson from implementing the decision-win blueprint that got him to this stage.
