Trey Waters def. Trukon Carson TKO (punches and elbows) · R1 4:37
Fight Overview
Former UFC lightweight Trey "The Truth" Waters makes his PFL debut against Trukon "The Carolina Gamedog" Carson, a local fighter who will have the Bojangles Coliseum crowd firmly on his side. Carson is dangerous early — five of his six wins came by first-round stoppage — while Waters brings the pedigree and tactical experience of a UFC veteran who has seen a higher level of competition, setting up a compelling local rivalry with playoff implications on the line.
Keys to Victory
Trey Waters
- Use his UFC-level experience to survive Carson's explosive opening-round pressure and impose a more calculated game plan as the fight progresses.
- Mix strikes and takedown attempts to keep Carson guessing and prevent him from loading up on the big early shots that define his finishes.
- Control the pace with sharp jabs and footwork, and pick Carson apart on the feet or secure dominant positions on the ground to earn a decision if needed.
Trukon Carson
- Push immediate pressure from the opening bell and look to land the big early shots that have ended five of his six professional fights in round one.
- Use the home-crowd energy as fuel and work toward clinch positions where his power and aggression can overwhelm a potentially ring-rusty Waters.
- Keep the fight moving at a high pace to limit Waters's ability to settle into his game plan and exploit any hesitation or ring rust early.
