Result Summary
Noah Hermosillo def. Jacob Pais Decision (unanimous) · R3 5:00
Fight Overview
Hermosillo is a 2022 NCAA Division II wrestling national champion converting elite mat credentials into a PFL career, making this among the most pedigreed wrestling debuts the featherweight prelim scene has seen. Pais trains at Matrix MMA and arrives with a more complete all-around base from his amateur career, making this a genuine test of whether championship wrestling translates cleanly against a fighter with real professional experience.
Keys to Victory
Noah Hermosillo
- Shoot early and often to impose championship-caliber wrestling before Pais can establish striking distance and rhythm
- Chain takedown attempts with ground strikes to neutralize Pais's standup and manufacture submission opportunities
- Convert scrambles back into dominant control — turning chaos into position is the hallmark of elite wrestling
Jacob Pais
- Stay active on the feet with lateral movement and kicks to prevent Hermosillo from setting underhook grips
- Circle away from Hermosillo's dominant setup hand and build scoring volume with combinations on the outside
- If taken down, use early frames and hip escapes — waiting surrenders the positional control Hermosillo thrives in
