Hyder Amil VS Christian Rodriguez

Christian Rodriguez delivered the biggest performance of his UFC career in spectacular, emotional fashion. Facing the previously unbeaten Hyder Amil, Rodriguez fought with renewed focus after recently moving his camp to Xtreme Couture following the loss of his longtime head coach. After a brief feeling-out process on the feet, Amil looked to press the action. Rodriguez capitalized on a grappling exchange, brilliantly jumping on a highlight-reel guillotine choke. He cinched the hold tight and applied immense pressure, forcing Amil to tap at 03:43 of the very first round to secure a definitive submission victory.

Hyder Amil and Christian Rodriguez are two fighters who need a win badly — both have struggled for consistency inside the UFC, and a loss here sends the wrong message to the matchmakers. Amil carries an 11-2 record and calls himself “The Hurricane” for a reason, bringing pressure and power in bunches, while Rodriguez at 12-4 owns technical striking and crafty footwork. Whoever wins here breathes new life into a UFC career that has been on shaky ground.
