Joanderson Brito stopped Giga Chikadze via TKO (punches) at 1:57 of round one to open UFC 331: Van vs. Pantoja 2 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on September 19, 2026. Brito pressed forward with aggressive combinations while Chikadze relied on body kicks and lateral movement. The fight turned when Chikadze slipped attempting a high kick; Brito drove into top position and unloaded ground-and-pound on a clearly dazed Chikadze. Repeated hammerfists forced referee Frank Trigg to wave off the contest, giving Brito the first-round finish in the featherweight opener.
Pregled borbe
Former top-10 featherweight Giga Chikadze needs to snap a three-fight skid against Joanderson Brito, who has back-to-back UFC wins and is coming off a submission finish in June. Chikadze's karate-based kicking game built his reputation as a dangerous striker, but the losses have raised questions about his durability under pressure. Brito presents the biggest step-up of his UFC run and a genuine test of whether his momentum is real.
Ključevi pobjede
Giga Chikadze
- Reestablish his kicking game from the outside and use distance management to keep Brito from closing the gap.
- Throw sharp combinations rather than single strikes to avoid Brito's takedown setups after missed shots.
- Stay active on the feet and not allow Brito to drag the fight to the mat where the submission threat materializes.
Joanderson Brito
- Press forward and smother Chikadze's kicking game by cutting off the cage and forcing the clinch.
- Mix strikes with takedown attempts to keep Chikadze uncertain about whether to commit his weight to kicks.
- Trust his submission game on the ground and look for the finish once he establishes top position.
