Result Summary
Alessandro Costa def. Cody Durden Submission (rear naked choke) · R2 2:19
Fight Overview
UFC flyweight veteran Cody Durden, a well-rounded former wrestler and BJJ brown belt heading into his 17th Octagon appearance, faces hot-finishing Brazilian Alessandro Costa, who stepped up on two weeks notice after earning back-to-back Performance of the Night bonuses with TKO stoppages in 2026. Costa momentum and finishing rate make him a genuine threat despite the late notice, while Durden experience and championship-round durability give him a measured edge.
Keys to Victory
Cody Durden
- Implement his wrestling early to take the fight away from the striking arena where Costa is thriving.
- Use his grappling transitions to exhaust Costa and hunt submissions on the mat.
- Absorb the early striking pressure patiently and look to drag the fight deep where his conditioning advantage grows.
Alessandro Costa
- Land the precise body shots that have already stopped two opponents this year to short-circuit Durden grappling.
- Stay active and attack from the outside to prevent Durden from setting up his wrestling entries.
- Finish early — his two-week notice preparation makes a deep fight riskier than a quick finish.
